The instructions on how to map a network location to a local drive can be found here:


  1. Open about:config
  2. Right-click on the list.
  3. Select New / Boolean
  4. Enter the following string name: network.protocol-handler.expose.file
  5. Set the value to false.
  6. Close all Firefox windows.
  7. Open the prefs.js file. The location of the file is:
    • for Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\[YOUR_USER_NAME]\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\[YOUR_PROFILE_NUMBER].default\ (for non-English Windows versions the "Application Data" folder name may be localized)for Windows Vista and 7: C:\Users\[YOUR_USER_NAME]\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\[YOUR_PROFILE_NUMBER].default\
  8. Add the following lines and save the file:

    user_pref("capability.policy.localfilelinks.sites", "YOUR_XTRF_ADDRESS");
    user_pref("capability.policy.localfilelinks.checkloaduri.enabled", "allAccess");

    Replace YOUR_XTRF_ADDRESS with the proper URL address, e.g. http://xtrf.yourcompany.com/
